my story

Mabuhay,

My name is Lauren Torres Funiestas: 2nd generation Ilokana-American daughter, mother & sexual assault survivor, currently residing on Bay Miwok land, also known as the Bay Area, CA.

My family immigrated from the Philippines by way of the United States Air Force and I was raised internationally, having lived in the Philippines, Japan and the American Southwest before settling in California.

I am the mother of a fully self actualized four year old, love dancing to old school R&B & Hip Hop and prescribe naps or smoking cannabis as a form of self care.

My private practice is informed by the teachings of transnational feminists, traditional Filipino healers, Buddhist leaders and old school white psychologists who took LSD and other drugs. I incorporate spirituality, somatic experiencing, dream imagery, community justice and meme humor in my work with clients.

The therapeutic work I engage in is meant to serve those who are healing intergenerational cycles of childhood emotional neglect, sexual violence and are in search of healing from a decolonial, feminist perspective.
